Gateway Employment Law represents employees across Missouri and Illinois whose workplace rights have been violated by their employer under state or federal law. This includes cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage disputes, and whistleblowing. We also help current employees navigate a variety of workplace issues like submitting internal complaints, requesting accommodations for medical or religious reasons, and severance negotiations.
No. Many employment law claims require employees to first file a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Missouri Commission on Human Rights, and/or Illinois Department of Human Rights before filing a lawsuit in court. We help employees navigate this administrative process and prepare them for litigation if their case does go to court. Separately, many employment disputes are resolved outside of the courtroom through mediation and settlement negotiations.
Every case is different and timelines will vary depending on the type of claim and the parties involved. Some employment cases are resolved quickly before an EEOC charge or lawsuit is filed, some are resolved in 1-2 years before a case goes to trial, and some take longer if the case goes to trial and is appealed. Regardless, Gateway Employment Law partners with clients to guide them through this process and fights for justice on their behalf.
